Hi,
We were in Komandoo for two weeks in October last year and the therapists at Duniye spa are wonderful – the three treatments I had were fabulous – I can’t say which was my favourite but can definitely recommend the hot jade stone massage, the soul to sole treatment and the stress-relieving back-neck-shoulder massage. We were Gold AI so had vouchers for the spa as part of the package.
When booking in for your first treatment they will ask you to complete a form outlining any health problems you might have and also your preferences for massage ie light, medium or strong pressure so it really is tailored to what you like. I’m a bit of a massage addict and often have hot stone treatments at home so opted for medium pressure but I must confess I found that a bit too much so asked for lighter pressure during my next treatment which was perfect.
On arrival you will be brought cold towels to refresh you before your treatment and then afterwards they will serve you with a lovely herbal tea which really does add to the relaxing effect of the massage.
Little note – if you’re Gold AI you have one treatment voucher per week per person, so even the prospect of two lovely treatments was great. My partner doesn’t ‘do’ that sort of thing, so we just assumed his vouchers would go unused. However, on asking the Spa staff said they didn’t mind if I used his vouchers so I got the bonus of extra treatments, which was just fab!
Do open your welcome envelope when you arrive as there is a voucher for a welcome massage (it’s either 15 or 30 minutes, I can’t remember) but it’s only available for the first couple of days. We didn’t look at the envelope contents until around day 3 or 4 so missed that one.
Whichever treatments you opt for I hope you enjoy it as much as I did – be prepared to completely zone out and feel absolutely relaxed – I even fell asleep during one session. We’re going back to Komandoo in October for three weeks this time and already I’m planning which treatments I’ll be having!
